2:00 pm - new years resolutions(just a little late)
|
So if you know me IRL (which I don't think anyone I really know reads this blog) you know that I do like to make resolutions each year and I do try to keep them in mind though out the year. Last year I did carry though pretty well. My overall goal was to be a better person, namely be being a better mother and employee. I think I did pretty well. I'm cooking more and helping Hailey with her homework more, I'm being more patient and trying to not get into to too much of a routine with my time with her. We've being getting out more to go to the beach, the zoo, the movies, ect - just basically having fun together. And work is going better. I still HATE my job, it is truely a sucky place to work, but hey, at least I have a job. I am better able to appreciate the regular paycheck and that I have things like vacation time and sick time.
Anyway so on to this year. I'm trying to be a more social person. I tend to be quite the hermit crab - I like staying home and don't really make much of an effort to meet new people. I'm trying to comment more on peoples blogs and in the forums in ravelry. I also joined the Sat night virtual knit group (I need a microphone and headset though to really participate) One of my friends from work has been taking me out on Friday nights that I don't have Hailey. I'm also going to start cleaning up my house more and maybe start having people over for dinner or craft night.
Anyway, sorry there's no knitting content today. Still working on the 2 baby blankets. But my next project will be www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/90-chic-cables-and-lace-cowl-neck , I'll be making it short sleeved to make it more Florida friendly - not that I need a bulky cowl necked pullover here, but it's so super cute I have to have it.. I'm also thinking about casting on for the www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bigfoot-shawl. I have some knitpicks pallette yarn that is just sitting in my stash, so that would be a good stash burning pattern for me.

3:44 pm - I'm really sad
|
Steve and I broke up almost 3 weeks ago. I really thought he was the one for me but as it turns out he and I wanted different things for the future. He was contented with just dating and at the very least I want some one to be around full time. But he would never move in with us without him and me being married and he says he never wants to get married. So we're trying to remain friends but it's really hard. He'll call me and be all happy and talk to me like nothing is different between us. It really makes me wonder why guys can always take breakups so easily - why am I always the one who is left sad and empty feeling? I really wish I could just have a switch inside that I could just turn off so I could quit feeling to cruddy for a day.
Anyway now that I have all this free time on my hands I've been knitting and reading. First up I finally read The Other Boleyn Girl , I had wanted to read the book before I saw the movie so now can add that movie to my netfilx queue. I also just finished Lost, it was written by the same guy that wrote Wicked. Before reading this book my favorite book he wrote was Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, and maybe it still is my favorite but this was really good, you know when you finish a book and then wish it was longer so you could keep reading it - it was really intense.
And as far as the knitting goes I'll put ( my pics behind a cut )
I guess that's it for now. But hopefully I'll be posting more often now. I've always wanted to use this blog to review different things so maybe I'll start doing that.

You Are a Turtleneck Sweater
|

You are sophisticated, streetwise, and even a little cynical.
You are quite cultured, and you don't fall for gimmicks or trends easily.
You are naturally chic. You have a urban, cosmopolitan style.
And you know that the secret to looking good is not trying too hard!

10:14 am - haha - I'm really tired this time
|
Yes I am stupid. I stayed up all night last night. The big storm was coming through and I was nervous about my leaky roof. So what did I do with all that time and nervous energy? ( you'll have to click to see )
Anyway, I guess that's all for today. I'll be taking Hailey's green sweater to knit on while I'm at work today. That's my last Ravelympics project, I hope I can finish it by Sunday.

6:54 pm - I'm tired
|
This is such the theme of my life these days. I'm dead ass tired all day long at work then I get to about 10 at night and that's when the energy picks up and I'm bouncing around the house like I don't have to work in the morning until all of the sudden it's 2:30 and crap I have to be up for work in 3 hours. Anyway, maybe someday I'll be able to just grow up and actually go to bed on time.
( I know you want to look )
I've also been working on a couple of presents, very instant gratification kind of things, I'll take and post pics after they've been gifted.
I guess that's it for now. Keep your fingers crossed that I go to bed early tonight.

So this will be a quick post cause I'm tired and I got stuff to do. ( click for the pic )
Speaking of the Ravelympics, I've entered 3 events. The Wrestling WIPS, the Baby Dressage, and the Amigurumi-n-Toys Toss. They're all small projects so the challenge will be to get them all done it 17 days. Wish me luck!

It's done! All knitted up and lined! I love this blanket and would love to drag it all over showing it off to everyone I know. But the baby I knit it for came last week so off in the mail it goes. Anyway it was knit in Knitpicks Swish DK using Knitpicks Harmony needles US5. The pattern is found in Zoe Mellor's Adorable Knits for Tots. It took me about 4 and a half months to knit. ( click for the pic ) Thanks for looking!

7:08 pm - I ♥ my new car
|
So I posted awhile ago about my car worries. Well my boyfriend saw how worried I was about breaking down and loaned me some money to help me make a down payment on a new car. I bought a nissan versa and she is so cute. It's sporty and very fuel efficient and so cute and fun to drive. Anyway I just wanted to say that I love her!

Presenting ( The Voyager Lace Shrug )
I obviously modified this pattern from a stole to a shrug. Other than that it was a quick and easy knit. I did really enjoy this pattern, I may end up knitting it again in a finer weight yarn

4:32 pm - oh posting again
|
I really wanted to post last thursday- I kept saying I just need a little time, it seemed like I had so many thoughts running around in my head. But now sunday rolls around and I do have a little free time while Steve is napping and all I can think about is that I have a headache.
So anyway, what have I been so busy doing? Well, this weekend one of Steve's good friends was getting married so friday night we had to go to the rehearsal dinner, and then sat we had the wedding. Then today we had the big girl's 6th birthday party and we're trying to get my car all cleaned up because hopefully tomorrow I'll be trading it in for a new car. I'm so excited to be getting a new car. The problems that I posted about earlier have continued. We replaced one of my rear tires with the spare because it kept going flat. Then my battery died again - Steve had to jump my car to get it to start. Now my trunk popper-thing isn't working. It will be such a relief to have a new car - I think I'm getting a nissan versa. I'll post pics once I get it.
In knitting news, I finished the voyager lace shrug. It had started out as a stole but I really didn't like to wrong side so I seamed up the 2 ends and turned it into a shrug. I wore it to the wedding last night but didn't get a chance to take any pics of it until we got home. Of course by then I was kind of drunk and it really showed so I just deleted the pics and we'll try again tonight.
I'm also making good progress on my spots and stripes baby blanket. I'm halfway done with the last row of blocks. Then it's a few rows of seed stitch and off to Joann's to find some fabric to line it with. I hope to have it finished and ready to mail out by July 15th. We'll see if I can make it.
Well, I guess I'll finish this up with a photo. These flowers always make me think of fireworks so I'm posting this photo in honor on the 4th of July. I hope everyone was a safe and fun one!

Stolen from perclexed
The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. 4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)
